Houchi Chemical was founded in Taiwan in 1959. Six decades later, the group operates R&D centers in Taipei and Shanghai, a 13,000 m² production site in Douliou, and delivers specialty additives, pigments, resins, and advanced materials to formulators worldwide.
From paint retailer to global specialty chemistry group.
Founded in 1959 by Liu Yiwen, Houchi began as a Taiwan paint retailer. In 1970 the company became ICI (UK)'s Taiwan distributor, opening decades of technical trade with the world's leading chemistry makers.
In 2008 Houchi moved from trade into production — launching the DOXA additives line, the Machinery Division for grinding and dispersion equipment, and the DoxaBio biotechnology unit for nano silicone antimicrobials.
Today the group runs on roughly 90 people across Taiwan and China, with a 5,000-tonne annual production capacity and $55.9M in 2024 revenue. Houchi Chemical USA is the newest chapter — the same technical trading model, now serving American formulators.
